Neverending Nightmares is a psychological horror game following Thomas, a man who repeatedly wakes from disturbing dreams only to discover that he may still be trapped inside another nightmare. Familiar people and locations return in increasingly unsettling forms as Thomas descends deeper into a world created from fear and psychological distress.
The game uses a distinctive hand-drawn black-and-white presentation with selected colors highlighting important or disturbing details. Its horror draws heavily from the creator’s experiences with obsessive-compulsive disorder and depression, giving many environments and creatures symbolic meaning.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore side-scrolling environments while searching for routes through houses, hospitals, forests, and other nightmare locations. Thomas is largely defenseless, so dangerous creatures must usually be avoided by hiding, moving carefully, or escaping before they can catch him.
Stamina limits how long Thomas can run, increasing tension during pursuits. Death and certain story moments can cause him to awaken in another part of the nightmare, while different routes through the experience lead toward multiple endings.
