About This Game:
NORCO is a Southern Gothic science-fiction point-and-click adventure set in a distorted near-future version of South Louisiana. Kay returns home after the death of her mother and discovers that her brother Blake has disappeared, leading her into an increasingly strange investigation around suburban New Orleans.
Oil refineries, flooded landscapes, abandoned shopping areas, religious groups, androids, and deteriorating neighborhoods form the backdrop to a story about family and environmental decline. The mystery also connects to investigations Kay’s mother was conducting before her death.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore pixel-art locations, speak with characters, examine objects, and collect information from the environment. A mind-map system records important people, locations, and ideas, helping connect different pieces of the larger mystery.
The narrative sometimes shifts perspective and introduces additional interactive sequences beyond conventional dialogue. Decisions and discoveries gradually lead Kay deeper into the industrial swamps and unusual communities surrounding her hometown.
