About This Game:
Northgard is a strategy game inspired by Norse mythology where Viking clans settle an unfamiliar continent filled with resources, rival factions, wild creatures, and supernatural dangers. Instead of expanding freely across an open map, territories are divided into zones that must be explored and colonized one at a time.
Every clan has unique bonuses and mechanics that encourage a different approach to economy, warfare, exploration, trade, or expansion. Seasonal changes are also crucial because winter reduces production and can turn a poorly prepared settlement into a disaster.
How the Gameplay Works
Players assign villagers to buildings that turn them into specialized workers such as farmers, woodcutters, miners, scouts, merchants, or warriors. Food is required to claim additional territories, while wood and other materials support construction and upgrades.
Military forces defend territory and can attack rival clans, but maintaining too many fighters reduces the civilian workforce supporting the economy. Fame, trade, conquest, lore, and other objectives provide several paths to victory. Preparing food and firewood before winter remains important throughout the match.
