About This Game:
Possessor(s) is a fast side-scrolling action adventure set inside the ruins of a city devastated by an interdimensional catastrophe. The story follows Luca, a teenager who survives the disaster only by forming an uneasy partnership with Rhem, a demon that requires a human host. Neither is particularly happy with the arrangement, but surviving the quarantined city means learning how to cooperate.
The interconnected remains of Sanzu City include collapsed towers, abandoned public spaces, flooded structures, and locations hiding both survivors and creatures created by the catastrophe. Hand-drawn characters move across detailed 3D environments, while conversations and optional character stories gradually reveal what happened to the city and the people trapped inside it.
How the Gameplay Works
Combat combines side-scrolling action with ideas taken from platform fighters. Luca can use ground and aerial attacks to create combinations, launch enemies, juggle them, and maintain pressure before they recover. Different weapons and upgrades change the available options, while bosses require more careful use of movement and attack timing.
Exploration follows an interconnected structure where newly acquired movement abilities and upgrades allow previously inaccessible areas to be reached. Players can choose different routes through parts of the city, discover optional secrets, meet surviving characters, and complete side stories. Platforming and traversal are therefore closely connected to both combat progression and uncovering the larger mystery.
