Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a third-person action adventure that follows a young Persian prince after he accidentally releases the Sands of Time inside a vast palace. The magical disaster transforms most of the inhabitants into dangerous creatures, leaving the Prince and Princess Farah to search for a way to undo what has happened.
The game combines acrobatic traversal, environmental puzzles, sword combat, and time manipulation. Its movement system allows the Prince to cross large gaps and elaborate palace structures with wall runs, jumps, ledge climbing, poles, ropes, and other acrobatic techniques.
How the Gameplay Works
Players guide the Prince through obstacle-filled environments using wall running, climbing, swinging, jumping, and carefully timed movement. The Dagger of Time can rewind recent mistakes, allowing failed jumps or combat errors to be reversed without immediately restarting from a checkpoint.
Combat uses sword attacks, vaulting moves, dodges, and the Dagger to finish enemies affected by the Sands. Sand tanks limit how often time powers can be used but can be replenished during play. Environmental puzzles and traps regularly interrupt combat and require players to study the palace before finding a safe route forward.
