Race the Sun is a high-speed arcade game where players pilot a solar-powered craft across an increasingly dangerous landscape while attempting to remain in sunlight for as long as possible. The sun is constantly moving toward the horizon, creating a race against both the environment and the approaching darkness.
Minimalist environments are filled with towers, moving structures, barriers, ramps, shadows, and other hazards that appear at high speed. Runs are designed around chasing better scores, improving personal records, completing objectives, and learning how to react quickly to the constantly changing route ahead.
How the Gameplay Works
The craft automatically moves forward while players steer left and right to avoid obstacles. Remaining exposed to sunlight keeps the vehicle moving efficiently, while entering shadows causes it to lose speed. Collectible energy objects can temporarily delay sunset, making them especially valuable during longer runs.
Ramps and power-ups provide opportunities for jumps and other maneuvers, while completing objectives increases the player’s level and unlocks additional abilities. The landscape regularly changes, preventing a single route from remaining permanently predictable and encouraging repeated attempts to achieve higher scores.
