Road 96 is a procedurally assembled narrative road-trip adventure set in the fictional authoritarian nation of Petria. Players control a series of teenagers attempting to reach the country’s border and escape before an important election changes the political situation.
Every journey introduces encounters with recurring characters whose personal stories gradually connect. Hitchhiking, walking, taking buses, stealing vehicles, or finding other transportation can lead to different locations and events, making each trip toward the border develop differently.
How the Gameplay Works
Players travel between roadside locations while speaking with characters, making dialogue choices, searching for useful items, and deciding how to continue toward the border. Money, energy, and special abilities can influence which options are available during encounters.
Choices affect relationships and contribute to the wider political situation in Petria. Reaching or failing to reach the border ends one teenager’s journey before the player begins again as another traveler, carrying broader story progress into the next trip.
