ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 8 REMAKE rebuilds the historical strategy game with expanded scenarios, redesigned visuals, additional officers, and new systems that make individual characters more important. Instead of requiring players to rule an entire kingdom from the throne, the All Officers Play system allows the story to be experienced as almost any officer in the Three Kingdoms world, from powerful rulers to unaffiliated characters trying to establish a reputation.
More than 55 scenarios cover over 80 years of the historical period, creating opportunities to experience famous conflicts or alter events through different decisions. Relationships between officers are emphasized through Destiny and Links Forged, while Tales introduce events that can be pursued depending on the player’s current circumstances.
How the Gameplay Works
Players choose an officer and manage their life within the larger political struggle. Depending on position and allegiance, activities can involve developing personal abilities, forming relationships, serving a ruler, influencing a force, strengthening cities, preparing armies, or eventually pursuing greater political power.
When conflict begins, military decisions determine how forces are used against rival factions. Relationships established outside battle can influence available support and opportunities, while changing historical situations create new events and objectives. Because almost every officer can become the protagonist, starting as a ruler produces a very different campaign from beginning as an ordinary officer with little influence.
