About This Game:
Roadside Research is a gas station management simulator with one major complication: the employees are aliens secretly preparing for an invasion. Players must operate the roadside business convincingly enough to appear human while quietly studying the customers who stop for fuel, food, and supplies. It can be played alone or cooperatively with a group of up to four players.
Every shift therefore has two objectives. The station needs to remain functional and profitable, but alien research must also continue without attracting too much attention. Suspicious behavior raises a meter that can bring government officials to investigate, turning ordinary shop management into a balancing act between running the business and completing the real mission.
How the Gameplay Works
During opening hours, players stock shelves, order merchandise, refuel vehicles, prepare food, clean the workplace, and handle customers. At the same time, humans can be scanned and secretly studied using alien methods. Research provides valuable information, but obvious experiments can increase suspicion and put the disguise at risk.
After closing, earnings and research progress can be used to improve either the gas station or alien technology. Business upgrades attract additional customers and make everyday work easier, while technological improvements increase the effectiveness of research. Cooperative play allows the workload to be divided between players, although keeping a group of undercover aliens behaving normally can create its own chaos.
