Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is a turn-based role-playing game set in the League of Legends universe. The adventure brings together a group of champions including Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Braum, Yasuo, Ahri, and Pyke as a supernatural threat begins spreading from the Shadow Isles. Much of the journey takes place around Bilgewater before moving into darker regions connected to the Black Mist.
The game can be enjoyed as a standalone RPG while also expanding locations and characters familiar to League of Legends players. Exploration, character conversations, quests, equipment, ability upgrades, and turn-based battles are combined with a comic-inspired visual presentation and a story focused on the uneasy alliance between its playable champions.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore environments from an isometric perspective, interact with characters, search for treasure, complete quests, and encounter enemies. A party is assembled from the available champions, with each character filling a different combat role through unique abilities. Equipment and upgrades allow individual builds to be adjusted as the party becomes stronger.
Combat uses the Lane Initiative system, which displays when characters and enemies are expected to act. Abilities can be performed normally or directed into different lanes that change their speed and strength. Environmental effects may also appear on sections of the initiative bar, encouraging players to deliberately adjust the timing of attacks. Combining champion abilities and managing buffs, debuffs, healing, and damage becomes increasingly important against stronger enemies.
