Serious Sam 4 is a fast-paced first-person shooter built around enormous battles against waves of alien enemies. Sam Stone returns as humanity fights against Mental’s invading forces, with the campaign delivering a mixture of open outdoor battlefields, ruined towns, military areas, and large arenas filled with attacking creatures.
The game keeps the series’ emphasis on constant movement and overwhelming enemy numbers rather than slow cover-based combat. Familiar monsters return alongside new threats, while an expanding arsenal provides increasingly destructive ways to deal with the large groups encountered later in the campaign.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move quickly around battlefields while firing at enemies that attack from multiple directions. Shotguns, assault rifles, rocket launchers, sniper weapons, explosives, and heavy guns can be switched instantly depending on the enemy type and distance.
Large encounters often require players to keep moving while prioritizing dangerous enemies before becoming surrounded. Gadgets and special equipment provide temporary advantages, while vehicles appear during selected sections. Cooperative play allows multiple players to fight through the campaign together and makes the largest battles even more chaotic.
