Serious Sam: The Random Encounter transforms the usually frantic first-person shooter series into a turn-based RPG while keeping its enormous enemy hordes and absurd humor. Sam joins a small party of mercenaries and travels across a pixel-art world while continuing his fight against Mental’s forces.
Rather than slowing the action into traditional menu-driven RPG battles, enemies continue charging toward the party while players plan attacks. Weapons, explosives, items, and special abilities are selected before the action briefly resumes and both sides carry out their moves.
How the Gameplay Works
Battles pause so players can choose movement directions, weapon attacks, and items for each party member. Once commands are confirmed, time advances and enemies rush toward the team while bullets and explosives fill the battlefield.
Different weapons cover different attack patterns, making positioning important against large enemy formations. The campaign travels across several worlds, while Challenge Mode provides an endless stream of enemies for players interested in surviving as long as possible.
