Serious Sam’s Bogus Detour takes the series’ large-scale enemy battles and converts them into a top-down action adventure. Sam travels through Mediterranean locations, dangerous laboratories, futuristic facilities, and even off-world environments while fighting the enormous groups of monsters associated with the franchise.
The different viewpoint does not make the action much calmer. Levels remain packed with enemies, weapons, explosions, and secrets, while cooperative play allows several players to fight through the campaign together.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move freely through overhead environments while aiming firearms independently toward enemies. Large groups can attack from several directions, requiring constant movement while switching between weapons suited to different ranges and enemy types.
Exploration reveals ammunition, upgrades, secrets, and additional equipment between combat encounters. Character development introduces further improvements, while Survival and Versus modes provide challenges outside the main adventure. An included editor also supports custom community content.
