Shinehill is a life simulation RPG with an unusual secret behind its peaceful island setting. The player is actually a spy sent to an unfamiliar planet, but the residents mistakenly believe you are simply their new neighbor. Rather than immediately exposing the truth, you receive a house and farmland and begin blending into everyday island life while quietly investigating the reason your superiors were interested in the planet.
The peaceful disguise includes farming, fishing, cooking, friendships, romance, and helping local residents with their problems. Beneath that relaxed routine are abandoned dungeons and unanswered questions about the island. Learning who can be trusted becomes increasingly important as the mission starts revealing that Shinehill may not be as harmless as it first appears.
How the Gameplay Works
Players maintain their new identity by participating in ordinary community life. Crops can be planted and harvested, fish can be caught, food can be prepared, and villagers can be helped through different activities and requests. Spending time with residents improves relationships and gradually reveals more about their personalities and stories.
Exploration also leads underground into abandoned dungeons containing secrets connected to the island. Players must balance the original spy assignment with their growing involvement in the community, and relationships can move beyond simple friendship.
