About This Game:
Sleeping Dogs is an open-world action-adventure game set in Hong Kong, following undercover police officer Wei Shen as he infiltrates the Sun On Yee Triad. Wei must gain the trust of dangerous gang members while secretly working with the police, forcing him to balance criminal assignments with his duty as an officer. The story focuses on loyalty, betrayal, organized crime, and the pressure of living between two sides as Wei becomes increasingly involved with the people he is supposed to investigate.

The game combines open-world exploration with martial arts combat, gunfights, driving, street races, and police investigations. Hong Kong is filled with markets, narrow streets, highways, clubs, docks, and other districts that can be explored freely between missions. Players can complete side activities, purchase clothing and vehicles, take part in races, help civilians, and improve Wei through several different progression systems.

How the Gameplay Works
Players control Wei from a third-person perspective while completing story missions for both the Triads and the police. Hand-to-hand combat is a major part of the game, allowing Wei to use punches, kicks, grapples, counters, and environmental finishing moves against groups of enemies. Objects around the environment can be used during fights, letting players throw enemies into walls, machinery, dumpsters, and other nearby hazards.

Gun combat uses cover and slow-motion mechanics during certain actions, while driving includes cars, motorcycles, boats, and vehicle-based missions. Players can perform action hijacks by jumping from one moving vehicle onto another during pursuits. Experience is divided between Triad, Police, and Face progression, with each category unlocking different abilities or benefits. Side activities such as street races, martial arts clubs, drug busts, favors, and hidden collectibles provide additional ways to earn rewards outside the main storyline.
