Slipways is a space strategy and puzzle game that removes warfare and much of the micromanagement normally associated with large 4X games. Players explore a procedurally generated region of space, colonize suitable planets, and connect them into a trade network where each world provides resources needed by others.
A complete session is designed to fit into roughly an hour, making each decision more immediate than in traditional grand strategy. There are no military fleets to command, so success comes from efficient expansion, economic planning, technology choices, and finding profitable connections between planets.
How the Gameplay Works
Players discover planets and select industries for colonies according to the resources each world can produce or consume. Slipway connections then link compatible planets, allowing resources to move automatically through the developing network.
Well-connected colonies grow and generate additional income, creating opportunities for further expansion. Research technologies can dramatically alter the rules of a run, while limited space and connection ranges turn the growing empire into an increasingly complicated strategic puzzle.
