About This Game:
Sniper Elite, also known as Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945, is a tactical stealth shooter set during the final days of World War II. Players control Karl Fairburne, an American OSS operative working undercover in the ruins of Berlin while German forces and the advancing Soviet army fight for control of the city.
Karl’s mission is to prevent sensitive German nuclear research, scientists, and technology from falling into Soviet hands. The devastated city provides a fitting environment for concealed movement and long-distance shooting, with ruined buildings, streets, defensive positions, and other locations providing potential sniper positions.
How the Gameplay Works
Movement normally takes place from a third-person perspective, while aiming through the sniper scope switches to a first-person view. Successful long-range shooting requires more than placing the crosshair directly on an enemy because factors such as range, wind, breathing, posture, and weapon stability can influence accuracy.
Players can crouch or crawl through cover, use a silenced pistol for nearby threats, place traps, and choose firing positions that make them harder to detect. A camouflage indicator helps show how visible Karl is to enemies. Particularly accurate sniper shots can activate a cinematic bullet camera that follows the projectile toward its target.
