About This Game:
Soldier of Fortune: Payback is a first-person shooter built around mercenary operations in international conflict zones. Players take the role of an armed contractor who becomes involved in a wider conspiracy after what appears to be a routine assignment goes badly wrong.
The campaign moves through several global locations and emphasizes frequent firefights against heavily armed opponents. A large arsenal gives players access to different weapon categories, while the series’ recognizable damage system makes combat particularly graphic compared with many other military shooters.
How the Gameplay Works
Players progress through linear missions while using assault rifles, submachine guns, shotguns, pistols, sniper rifles, machine guns, and explosives. Enemy groups appear throughout indoor and outdoor areas, requiring players to make frequent use of cover and switch weapons depending on combat distance.
Mission objectives guide the player between firefights and larger confrontations. Weapons can be collected from defeated enemies, while ammunition availability encourages regular changes in equipment. Multiplayer modes extend the gunplay beyond the main campaign with competitive matches against other players.
