Spelunky 2 expands the roguelike platforming formula with larger environments, additional routes, mounts, liquid physics, new enemies, and more interconnected secrets. Ana Spelunky travels to the Moon searching for her missing parents and quickly finds an underground world every bit as dangerous and unpredictable as the caves explored in the first game.
Every run rearranges its stages while keeping enemies and traps governed by consistent rules. Learning those interactions is essential because a minor mistake can trigger a chain reaction involving explosions, falling objects, enemies, lava, or other hazards.
How the Gameplay Works
Players descend through procedurally generated levels using ropes, bombs, weapons, equipment, and environmental shortcuts. Routes can branch into different regions, allowing experienced players to choose paths based on their goals and available resources.
Mounts, hired characters, shops, secret locations, hidden quest lines, and alternate endings provide additional objectives beyond simply reaching the bottom. Cooperative and competitive multiplayer allow several explorers to share the chaos locally or online.
