The Banner Saga 3 concludes the trilogy’s story of survival as the remaining clans, fighters, and leaders face the spreading Darkness threatening the world. Decisions made throughout the earlier games can carry into the finale, affecting characters, relationships, resources, and the circumstances surrounding the last stand.
The game continues the series’ combination of hand-drawn storytelling, difficult choices, caravan management, and tactical turn-based combat. How the Gameplay Works
Combat takes place on grid-based battlefields where units have separate Armor and Strength values. Damaging Armor makes later attacks more effective, while losing Strength also reduces a character’s offensive power. Players alternate turns with enemies and must carefully position warriors around hazards and opposing units.
Outside battle, dialogue choices and major decisions continue to shape the story. The final game follows different groups dealing with separate threats, and the consequences of earlier choices can determine which characters remain available. Heroes can be promoted and equipped with items as the campaign advances toward its conclusion.
