The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II is a real-time strategy game that expands the war for Middle-earth beyond many of the locations featured in its predecessor. Players command major factions from the forces of Good and Evil, building armies containing infantry, archers, cavalry, monsters, siege equipment, heroes, and powerful fantasy creatures.
Separate Good and Evil campaigns explore conflicts taking place in the northern regions of Middle-earth, while skirmish and strategic modes allow players to create their own wars between factions. Each army has its own buildings, units, heroes, strengths, and weaknesses.
How the Gameplay Works
Players establish bases, gather resources, construct military buildings, recruit armies, and capture territory before attacking enemy settlements. Structures can be placed more freely than in the first game, allowing bases to be designed around the available terrain and strategic situation.
Heroes provide powerful abilities and become stronger through combat, while siege weapons and large monsters help break heavily defended bases. War of the Ring mode adds a broader strategic map where armies are moved between territories before battles are resolved in real time.
