About This Game:
The Mildew Children is a grim visual novel and folk-horror adventure about a village where ancient traditions demand that children take on dangerous ritual responsibilities. The story follows a group of young characters facing fear, superstition, and the consequences of old customs.

The game uses hand-drawn artwork and a dark fairy-tale atmosphere rather than action-heavy systems.

How the Gameplay Works
Players read dialogue, make decisions, inspect scenes, and follow branching story events. Choices can affect relationships and the direction of later scenes.

Progression is narrative-focused, with the village’s rituals and hidden history gradually becoming clearer. The strongest appeal comes from atmosphere, character tension, and unsettling folklore. The experience also rewards experimentation because folk-horror visual novel does not operate separately from hand-drawn presentation and child protagonists. Different combinations can produce safer, faster, or more efficient results, while village ritual storyline gives the player another long-term objective to consider. That keeps repeated stages or encounters from feeling exactly the same.
