About This Game:
The Night of the Scissors is a short retro-style survival horror game inspired by slasher films and early 3D console aesthetics. Players explore a dark location while being hunted by a killer armed with scissors.
The game uses fixed or limited camera perspectives, low-resolution visuals, and deliberate movement to recreate the feel of older horror titles.
How the Gameplay Works
Players search rooms, collect keys or puzzle items, avoid the killer, and find the route needed to escape. Direct confrontation is limited, so learning safe paths is important.
The short campaign focuses on tension and replay rather than long-term progression. Its strongest appeal is the combination of VHS-era slasher atmosphere and classic survival-horror presentation. As more of the game opens up, retro slasher horror remains central but gains extra depth from scissor-wielding killer and low-resolution console-style visuals. Those systems create room for different strategies, while keys and exploration encourages better use of the tools already introduced. Progress therefore feels like an expansion of the original loop rather than a series of disconnected mechanics. The compact design still leaves room to improve because retro slasher horror and scissor-wielding killer remain useful throughout, while low-resolution console-style visuals gives later stages enough variation to keep the core loop from becoming repetitive.
