About This Game:
The Salesman is a psychological horror game built around unemployment, debt, consumer culture, and the growing desperation of trying to maintain an ordinary suburban life. After unexpectedly losing a job, the protagonist begins searching for new employment while bills continue arriving and financial security rapidly disappears.
A strange salesman offers an apparent solution: surrender personal possessions and receive advertisement-filled alternatives in return. What begins as a way to survive slowly strips away more of the protagonist’s life, turning familiar consumer habits into the foundation for an increasingly disturbing story.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore the home and surrounding environments from a first-person perspective, apply for jobs, perform everyday tasks, interact with objects, and respond to the increasingly intrusive presence of the Salesman and his advertisements.
Progress is largely narrative-driven, with the player gradually trading possessions as circumstances worsen. Fully voiced scenes, analog-horror presentation, and surreal events transform mundane activities into increasingly uncomfortable experiences.
