Thekku Island is a first-person psychological horror adventure set on a fictional remote island in 1980s Kerala, India. After receiving no word from his wife for several weeks, the protagonist travels to the island where she had been staying and discovers an abandoned house surrounded by dark forests. What begins as a search for a missing person gradually develops into something much more disturbing.
The game draws inspiration from Indian ghost stories and regional folklore, using supernatural events, unsettling sounds, moving shadows, and unexplained clues to build tension. Exploring the island gradually reveals pieces of its past and the events surrounding the disappearance, with the mystery becoming more dangerous as night falls.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore the island from a first-person perspective, searching rooms, forest paths, and other locations for clues connected to the missing woman. Examining the environment and discovering important objects gradually opens more of the story and provides reasons to investigate previously unexplored areas.
Horror encounters interrupt the investigation as supernatural activity becomes more noticeable. Strange sounds, apparitions, shadows, and sudden frightening events make even familiar areas feel unsafe. Progress depends primarily on exploration, observation, and piecing together the island’s hidden history while surviving the increasingly disturbing events surrounding the protagonist.
