Thief II: The Metal Age is a first-person stealth game following master thief Garrett as new political and technological threats begin transforming the City. Mechanical guards, surveillance devices, religious fanatics, and wealthy targets create increasingly complicated situations for a thief who prefers avoiding direct confrontation.
The game places stealth above combat, rewarding players for remaining unseen, listening to guards, studying patrol routes, and using shadows to move through large environments. Mansions, banks, warehouses, city streets, and industrial facilities provide varied locations filled with valuables and hidden routes.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move through missions from a first-person perspective while monitoring visibility and sound. Dark areas make Garrett harder to detect, while running across loud surfaces can alert nearby guards. Crouching and moving slowly reduce noise when passing close to enemies.
A specialized bow can fire water arrows to extinguish torches, rope arrows to create climbing routes, and other utility ammunition for different situations. Lockpicks, blackjack attacks, distractions, and careful exploration help complete objectives without unnecessary fighting.
