About This Game:
Those Who Remain is a first-person psychological horror adventure set in Dormont, a small town swallowed by unnatural darkness. Players control Edward, a troubled man who arrives in town intending to deal with a personal situation but quickly discovers that Dormont has become separated from ordinary reality and filled with terrifying dangers.
Light and darkness play central roles throughout the story. Strange figures wait inside unlit areas, while alternate versions of locations reveal disturbing events connected to the town’s residents. Edward’s journey also forces him to confront moral decisions and parts of his own life that he would rather avoid.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore streets, buildings, and other locations while staying close to functioning light sources. Entering darkness without preparing a safe route can be deadly, so switches, lamps, doors, and environmental objects must often be manipulated before moving forward.
Puzzle solving and exploration are mixed with supernatural encounters and moments where escape is safer than confrontation. Certain choices influence the direction and outcome of the story, while moving between altered versions of reality becomes important for solving some environmental obstacles.
