TimeShift is a science-fiction first-person shooter built around the ability to manipulate the flow of time during combat. The story takes place in an altered timeline created after scientist Dr. Aiden Krone uses experimental technology to change history and establish an authoritarian regime. The player enters this altered world wearing an advanced suit capable of controlling time.
Instead of limiting time manipulation to scripted sequences, the game makes it part of regular combat and environmental puzzle solving. Players can slow enemies down, completely freeze the surrounding world, or reverse recent events while still being able to act within the altered flow of time.
How the Gameplay Works
The game plays as a traditional first-person shooter with rifles, shotguns, explosives, mounted weapons, and vehicles, but the suit’s three time powers create additional tactical options. Slowing time makes fast enemies easier to track, stopping it can allow the player to move through dangerous situations safely, and reversing time can restore objects or undo environmental events.
Time powers are also required for certain puzzles and obstacles, such as reversing moving objects or passing through hazards before they react. Combat encounters frequently mix conventional gunplay with these abilities, encouraging players to manipulate the battlefield instead of relying entirely on weapons. The campaign contains multiple combat missions alongside separate multiplayer modes.
