Tomb Raider: Anniversary reimagines Lara Croft’s original adventure with updated visuals, expanded environments, modernized movement, and redesigned puzzles. Lara travels in search of the legendary Scion, an ancient artifact divided into several pieces and hidden across dangerous ruins around the world.
The adventure revisits recognizable locations from the original Tomb Raider while greatly expanding their scale and environmental detail. Exploration remains the main focus, with isolated tombs, hidden chambers, dangerous animals, traps, puzzles, and platforming sequences forming most of the journey.
How the Gameplay Works
Players guide Lara through third-person environments using jumps, ledge grabs, poles, ropes, climbing surfaces, and a grappling hook. Many rooms function as large environmental puzzles where players must identify how different platforms, switches, mechanisms, and movable objects connect.
Lara uses firearms against animals and other hostile creatures, with movement and evasive actions helping her survive combat. Hidden relics and artifacts encourage additional exploration, while checkpoints reduce the amount of progress lost after failing difficult platforming sections or traps.
