Ultimate General: Civil War is a tactical and strategic war game focused on the American Civil War. Players command armies through major historical battles while managing officers, brigades, weapons, recruits, and long-term army development between engagements.
The campaign is persistent, so casualties and equipment losses can affect later battles. Building an experienced army becomes as important as winning one dramatic fight.
How the Gameplay Works
Battles take place in real time with pause, allowing infantry, artillery, cavalry, and skirmishers to be positioned across large maps. Terrain, morale, cover, fatigue, flanking, and supply all influence combat effectiveness.
Between battles, players recruit soldiers, assign generals, buy weapons, reorganize brigades, and invest career points into broader advantages. The campaign can be played from either Union or Confederate perspective.
