Ultros is a psychedelic 2D action-adventure and metroidvania set aboard a strange cosmic vessel called the Sarcophagus. Players wake inside a repeating cycle and explore an alien ecosystem filled with hostile creatures, unusual plants, and surreal architecture.
The game combines melee combat with gardening and ecological systems, making the world feel less like a normal dungeon and more like a living environment that can be changed.
How the Gameplay Works
Players slash enemies, dodge attacks, gain abilities, plant seeds, cultivate useful plants, and explore interconnected areas. New movement powers open routes that were inaccessible during earlier cycles.
Time-loop progression changes how the player approaches the world, while gardening can create shortcuts or resources. The experience rewards experimentation with both combat and ecosystem management. What keeps the experience varied is the connection between psychedelic metroidvania, time-loop structure, and melee combat. Each one solves a different problem, and later situations often require several of them to be used together. gardening and ecosystem systems then provides another reason to adjust the current plan, especially when mistakes become harder to recover from.
