About This Game:
Under The Island is a 2D action adventure inspired by the colorful exploration games of the 1990s. Players control Nia, a newcomer to Seashell Island who soon learns that her new home is destined to sink beneath the ocean. Together with a local girl named Avocado, she begins investigating the island’s history in search of a way to prevent the disaster.
Seashell Island contains multiple regions filled with characters, strange creatures, puzzles, secrets, and ancient mysteries. The world is designed to encourage curiosity rather than forcing everyone through exactly the same route, letting exploration reveal different discoveries and possible outcomes.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore the island from a top-down perspective, traveling between connected areas and investigating anything that appears unusual. Monsters can be fought directly, while environmental puzzles and obstacles require more careful observation. Useful discoveries gradually open additional opportunities across the island.
Talking with residents and searching hidden locations reveals information about the island’s past and the threat beneath it. Different paths can lead to optional secrets and alternative progression, rewarding players who explore beyond the obvious objective. The ultimate goal is to understand what is happening beneath Seashell Island before its predicted destruction becomes unavoidable.
