Urtuk: The Desolation is a tactical turn-based RPG set in a harsh low-fantasy world filled with ruined civilizations, dangerous factions, and grotesque mutations. Players lead Urtuk and a growing group of companions across an open campaign while searching for a way to stop the mutation slowly destroying him.
The campaign combines survival, exploration, recruitment, loot, and highly tactical battles on large maps. Character abilities can also be extracted from fallen enemies, allowing unusual traits and combat effects to be transferred into members of the player’s group.
How the Gameplay Works
Battles take place on hex-based maps where positioning and environmental hazards play major roles. Units can push enemies into spikes, throw them from cliffs, protect allies, counterattack, and combine melee and ranged abilities for coordinated attacks.
The campaign world is procedurally generated and allows players to move between locations, recruit fighters, acquire equipment, and choose which battles to pursue. Mutators collected from defeated enemies can modify characters and create builds that behave very differently from their original roles.
