Violet Wisteria is a retro 2D action-platformer inspired by the precise stage design and colorful presentation of 1990s console games. Wisteria Asagiri travels across Earth, the Higher Realm, and the Under-Realms while confronting enemies that can only be handled effectively by understanding the game’s unusual three-color combat system.
Eight stages combine platforming with combat and environmental challenges. Rather than giving the player a large collection of unrelated attacks, the game builds most of its challenge around learning how the three sword colors interact with different targets.
How the Gameplay Works
Wisteria can use three differently colored sword attacks. Enemies are associated with particular colors, requiring players to select the correct attack in a rock-paper-scissors-like system instead of repeatedly using one favorite move.
The same color relationships also appear in stage obstacles, making the mechanic important during traversal as well as combat. Each stage eventually introduces more demanding enemy arrangements and boss encounters.
