About This Game:
Bad North: Jotunn Edition is a real-time tactical roguelite about defending a small island kingdom from relentless Viking invaders. After the king is killed, the surviving population is forced to retreat from island to island while commanders organize whatever resistance remains against the approaching raiders.
Every battlefield is a compact island with its own coastline, houses, hills, narrow passages, and landing points. The small scale makes every movement important, as only a handful of squads stand between the inhabitants and Viking ships arriving from several directions.
How the Gameplay Works
Players command squads in real time by selecting where they should move and which part of the island they should defend. Units automatically fight nearby enemies, leaving the player to concentrate on positioning, retreating damaged troops, protecting houses, and preparing for incoming boats.
Surviving houses provide coins that can be spent on commander upgrades and specialized unit classes such as infantry, archers, and pikemen. The campaign moves across a procedurally generated chain of islands, and losing an experienced commander can permanently remove that unit from the current run.
