About This Game:
BLACKTAIL is a first-person action-adventure inspired by Slavic folklore and the legend of Baba Yaga. Players take the role of Yaga, a young girl expelled from her village who enters a strange forest filled with talking creatures, spirits, memories, and dangerous beings. Her journey gradually explores the events behind her past and how she eventually becomes associated with the legendary witch.
The world blends fairy-tale imagery with darker themes, and many encounters give players decisions that influence Yaga’s morality. These choices are tied not only to dialogue and story direction but also to aspects of character progression, giving the game’s interpretation of Baba Yaga room to change according to how the player behaves.
How the Gameplay Works
Yaga primarily fights with a bow, crafting arrows and other ammunition from materials collected while exploring. Different enemy types encourage careful aiming, movement, and the use of special abilities rather than simply firing continuously. Resources found in the forest can also be used to unlock skills and improve survival capabilities.
Exploration mixes combat with puzzles, environmental interactions, side activities, and encounters with unusual characters. Players can make moral decisions throughout the adventure, and performing helpful or selfish actions affects Yaga’s path.
