Blade Assault is a fast-paced 2D action roguelite set in a science-fiction world divided between the wealthy city of Esperanza and the dangerous Undercity below it. Players join resistance fighters attempting to challenge the corrupt forces controlling the city while battling through repeatedly changing runs filled with soldiers, machines, monsters, and powerful bosses.
Pixel-art environments and colorful combat effects accompany a system built around combining weapons, elemental enhancements, and character upgrades. Different playable characters have their own combat styles, giving repeated runs more variety than simply collecting different random items.
How the Gameplay Works
Combat takes place from a side-scrolling perspective and emphasizes quick movement, melee attacks, dashing, special skills, and chaining attacks together. During a run, players obtain upgrades that can modify weapons and add elemental effects such as fire, electricity, or ice. Combining these bonuses can significantly change how attacks behave.
Defeated enemies and completed encounters provide resources and upgrade choices before the player moves deeper into hostile territory. Boss fights test both movement and the strength of the current build. Failed runs return the player to the hub, where persistent progression and unlocks provide additional options for future attempts.
