About This Game:
Call of Cthulhu: Prisoner of Ice is a Lovecraftian adventure set shortly before World War II and inspired particularly by At the Mountains of Madness. Players follow Lieutenant Ryan, an American intelligence officer assigned to a British submarine carrying mysterious cargo recovered from Antarctica.
The objects aboard the submarine are connected to ancient creatures and occult forces far beyond normal military intelligence. Ryan’s investigation eventually extends beyond the vessel and becomes tied to secret Nazi research, the Cthulhu Mythos, and events associated with the earlier Shadow of the Comet.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore locations, collect objects, speak with characters, and solve inventory-based puzzles. Certain threats require quick decisions or the correct item rather than conventional combat.
The adventure travels through multiple locations and uses documents, conversations, and supernatural encounters to build its mystery. Solving mechanical, historical, and occult puzzles gradually reveals the purpose of the creatures known as the Prisoners of Ice.
