About This Game:
Call of Cthulhu: Shadow of the Comet is a Lovecraftian adventure set in 1910. Journalist and photographer John Parker travels to the isolated New England town of Illsmouth after learning that a previous astronomer witnessed an unusual celestial event there and later lost his sanity.
Parker hopes to photograph Halley’s Comet from the same location, but his investigation reveals that Illsmouth’s residents are hiding a much older secret. The story draws from the Cthulhu Mythos and incorporates themes associated with The Shadow Over Innsmouth and The Dunwich Horror.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore the town, speak with residents, search buildings, collect items, and solve puzzles involving local history and occult clues. Progress depends on determining which townspeople can be trusted and where important information is hidden.
The story unfolds over several days as the comet’s appearance approaches. Inventory objects, written clues, photographs, and conversations gradually reveal the rituals and supernatural forces surrounding Illsmouth.
