About This Game:
Contraband Police places players at a remote border checkpoint in the fictional communist country of Acaristan during the 1980s. As a newly assigned border inspector, the player’s job is to examine travelers, verify paperwork, search suspicious vehicles, and stop illegal goods from entering the country.
The routine inspection work gradually becomes part of a wider story involving smugglers, criminals, political unrest, and organized opposition. New regulations are introduced as the campaign advances, forcing officers to remember additional rules while dealing with increasingly elaborate attempts to cross the border illegally.
How the Gameplay Works
Every arriving traveler presents documents that must be checked for incorrect names, dates, passport details, vehicle information, cargo declarations, and other inconsistencies. Suspicious vehicles can be inspected manually for hidden compartments, altered body panels, tires, bumpers, fuel tanks, and other places where contraband may be concealed.
Players can arrest suspects, confiscate illegal goods, transport prisoners, upgrade the checkpoint, and purchase better inspection equipment. Some missions leave the border post entirely and involve driving, shootouts, pursuits, and raids. Correct decisions earn money and improve performance, while mistakes reduce available resources.
