About This Game:
Dead Island Riptide continues the survival story of the original Dead Island shortly after the survivors escape Banoi. Their apparent rescue quickly fails when another outbreak leaves them stranded on the tropical island of Palanai, where flooding, abandoned villages, jungles, research facilities, and ruined settlements are filled with infected.
The returning survivors are joined by John Morgan, a new playable character specializing in hand-to-hand combat. Each character has unique skill trees and preferred weapon types, allowing players to build around sharp weapons, blunt weapons, firearms, throwing attacks, or unarmed combat.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore the island from a first-person perspective while completing story quests and optional missions. Melee weapons form the core of combat and gradually wear down with use, requiring repairs. Workbenches allow weapons to be upgraded and modified with elemental effects such as electricity and fire.
Experience earned from combat and quests unlocks additional skills, while scavenging provides weapons, money, crafting components, and medical supplies. Certain missions require survivors to defend fortified positions against waves of infected. Up to four players can explore and complete missions together through online cooperative play.
