Door Kickers is a top-down tactical strategy game that puts players in command of a SWAT team during dangerous police operations. Instead of controlling one officer directly, the game focuses on analyzing buildings, selecting equipment, planning entry routes, and coordinating several team members before and during an operation.
Missions cover situations such as hostage rescues, armed suspect encounters, and other close-quarters interventions. Levels are deliberately open to different approaches, allowing players to choose entry points, assign weapons, divide the team, and decide whether to build a detailed plan beforehand or adjust quickly once the shooting starts.
How the Gameplay Works
Players draw movement paths for officers across a two-dimensional overhead map and can add commands along those routes. Officers can be told where to look, when to open doors, when to deploy equipment, and where to stop. The action takes place in real time but can be paused at any moment to modify the plan.
Information is limited until officers gain line of sight into unexplored areas, so clearing rooms carefully is important. Equipment, weapons, armor, breaching tools, and team composition can be chosen before a mission. Successful operations reward careful coordination, while the mission generator and level editor provide additional scenarios beyond the main content.
