Double Dragon Advance is a side-scrolling beat-’em-up that reworks and expands the original Double Dragon with additional moves, weapons, enemies, and ideas drawn from several earlier games in the series. Players control Billy or Jimmy Lee as they fight through gangs across urban stages.
The game preserves the classic arcade structure while giving the brothers a broader combat system. Grapples, throws, knees, aerial attacks, and weapon use create more options than simply repeating punches and kicks.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move through side-scrolling areas, fight groups of enemies, pick up bats, knives, whips, and other weapons, and use martial-arts combinations to control crowds.
Bosses appear at major stages, and cooperative two-player action is central to the experience. The game is designed as a refined retro brawler rather than an RPG, so improvement comes mainly from mastering positioning, throws, and enemy patterns.
