Evil Genius is a strategy and management game that places players in charge of a secret island lair rather than asking them to stop the villain. The objective is to build a criminal organization, complete acts of infamy around the world, and eventually carry out a plan for global domination.
The lair operates as a working base filled with rooms, equipment, minions, security systems, and traps. Government agents continually investigate suspicious activity, forcing the player to hide valuable operations and deal with intruders before they can escape with evidence.
How the Gameplay Works
Players excavate rooms inside the mountain and assign them purposes such as barracks, laboratories, control centers, vaults, and training facilities. Basic minions can be trained into specialized roles and sent onto the world map to steal money or complete missions.
Agents who reach the island can be distracted, captured, interrogated, or eliminated using guards and elaborate trap networks. Progress unlocks new technology, henchmen, minion types, and increasingly ambitious objectives.
