I’m on Observation Duty 1 establishes the series’ unusual horror formula by placing the player behind a set of security cameras instead of inside the haunted building. The task is simple: watch several rooms and report any anomaly that appears before the shift ends.

The horror comes from uncertainty rather than movement or combat. Players spend long periods studying normal rooms, which makes even a slightly moved chair or changed painting feel suspicious.

How the Gameplay Works
Gameplay consists of switching between camera feeds, memorizing the arrangement of objects, and filing a report when something is wrong. Anomalies can include moved or missing objects, extra items, strange figures, lighting changes, and other unexplained events.

Reports must identify the correct location and type of anomaly. If too many disturbances remain active at the same time, the shift fails. Because the anomalies are randomized, each playthrough becomes a new test of attention even after the room layouts have been learned. What gives the game most of its variety is the way original observation-horror formula works alongside multiple security-camera feeds and randomized anomalies. Those systems regularly overlap during normal play, and object and intruder changes adds another layer once the player has learned the basics, so later sections ask for better use of the same core mechanics rather than simply increasing numbers.
