Hex of Steel is a turn-based strategy wargame covering major conflicts of World War II and additional historical scenarios. Battles take place on large hex-based maps where players command land, air, and naval units across tactical engagements and broad campaigns.
The game favors flexible scenario design and approachable controls while still including logistics, terrain, weather, unit experience, and combined-arms considerations. A scenario editor further expands the available content.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move units across hexes, attack enemy formations, capture objectives, manage supply, and use terrain to gain defensive or offensive advantages. Different unit types have specialized strengths, making infantry, armor, artillery, aircraft, and naval support useful in different situations.
Campaigns can cover extended military operations while individual scenarios provide shorter battles. Multiplayer and scenario creation allow battles to continue beyond the included historical content.
