About This Game:
Kholat is a first-person horror adventure inspired by the real Dyatlov Pass incident, in which a group of hikers died under mysterious circumstances in the Ural Mountains. The game places players in a frozen wilderness and presents a fictional supernatural interpretation of what might have happened.
There is no straightforward path leading from one objective marker to another. Players navigate using a paper map and compass while searching snowy forests, abandoned camps, caves, and mountain areas for journal pages and locations connected to the mystery.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore on foot using coordinates, landmarks, a compass, and the map to determine their location. Finding important sites adds information to the investigation, while scattered notes gradually build a fragmented version of the story.
Supernatural threats can appear while traveling, and direct combat is not available. Players must avoid dangerous phenomena, use the environment to stay oriented, and decide which locations to investigate while surviving the hostile mountain atmosphere.
