About This Game:
Mall Tycoon is a business management simulation where players begin with an empty property and build it into a busy shopping center. Stores can be placed across different retail categories including clothing, electronics, food, sports, entertainment, and services, while restaurants, movie theaters, bowling alleys, and arcades provide additional attractions. The goal is to keep visitors interested while making enough money to continue expanding the property.
Mall management also includes employees, research, decorations, promotions, security, and special events. More advanced stores and entertainment facilities can require research before construction, while monthly attractions such as car shows, circuses, and other events can bring additional customers. When available floor space runs out, additional mall levels can be constructed to provide more room for expansion.
How the Gameplay Works
Players construct shops, hallways, entertainment areas, food facilities, and decorative spaces while monitoring visitor traffic and profitability. Each new business needs enough customers to remain worthwhile, so placing a good mixture of stores and attractions is important. Poorly performing businesses may need to be replaced or supported with improvements and promotions.
Research gradually provides access to more advanced stores and facilities. Employees help operate the mall, while security and maintenance systems keep problems under control. Players can customize floors and mall layouts, build atriums, organize promotional events, and eventually add additional stories to the building when horizontal expansion is no longer practical.
