Men of War: Red Tide is a World War II real-time tactics game focused on the Soviet Naval Infantry, often known as the Black Coats, and their operations around the Black Sea. The standalone entry follows a series of battles inspired by historical military operations between 1941 and 1945, with missions involving coastal assaults, defensive positions, armored engagements, and attacks against heavily fortified enemy forces. The campaign features Soviet troops alongside German, Romanian, and Italian forces across a variety of battlefields.
Rather than concentrating on base building and resource gathering, the game puts players directly in control of soldiers, vehicles, artillery, and other battlefield units. Individual troops carry their own weapons and equipment, vehicles can suffer damage to specific components, and much of the environment can be destroyed during combat. How the Gameplay Works

Soldiers can take cover behind buildings, walls, trenches, and other objects while using rifles, machine guns, grenades, anti-tank weapons, and captured equipment. Tanks, armored vehicles, artillery pieces, and other units require careful positioning because attacks can damage tracks, weapons, engines, and other important components.
The Direct Control system allows players to take manual control of an individual soldier or vehicle instead of relying entirely on standard strategy commands. This can be useful for aiming a tank gun, carefully positioning a soldier, throwing grenades, or handling difficult situations more precisely. Ammunition and equipment must also be managed during missions, with soldiers able to collect weapons and supplies from the battlefield. Destructible environments and varied objectives encourage players to adapt their tactics as battles develop.
