Shard Squad is a creature-collecting bullet-heaven roguelite where a team of small elemental beings fights enormous waves of enemies threatening the world of Mellunia. Rather than controlling only one hero, players build a squad of Shards whose elements, individual traits, and abilities can interact with one another to create stronger effects during a run.
The roster includes creatures associated with Fire, Water, Electric, Nature, Crystal, and other powers. Boss victories can expand the available team, while relics and upgrades provide additional ways to shape a build. The focus is on discovering combinations that allow the squad to survive increasingly crowded battlefields without losing the clear, colorful pixel-art presentation.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move through stages while their squad attacks surrounding enemies and gathers experience. Leveling provides opportunities to strengthen individual Shards and improve the effects produced by their traits. Having several creatures that share compatible properties can unlock stronger synergies, encouraging players to think about the squad as a complete build rather than a collection of unrelated characters.
Bosses and special events interrupt regular enemy waves and provide additional rewards when defeated. New Shards can be recruited, relics can modify the team’s strengths, and repeated runs allow players to experiment with different elemental combinations. Later progression also includes evolved forms for playable Shards, giving established characters additional development.
